9:01a
- (and the time changed last night)
I
spent this morning designing this page...
I
cooked my food from last night... it came out ok. I little mushy...
but otherwise fine. Well ... not much to report yet today. I better
take Kira out.
Marty
was real nice and offered to take me and Kira out for a ride today.
I was nice to go somewhere other than a bar, a store, a theater or work.
Kira enjoyed getting out too! I took my camera.... no spectacular pictures,
but nice.

I
should have bathed Kira and done laundry tonight, but I was too tired
after our hike.
I
published my “Easter Theme” web site yesterday, but there
were a lot of errors. I made corrections today. It looks much better.
MONDAY
- April
2, 2001
8:12a
- I slept more solidly than usual last night. I needed that. But this
morning I am finding it hard to get rolling again! I should be getting
in the shower about now... but I am just getting out of bed. I still
have to walk Kira! The time change is probably affecting me for one
thing. So... gotta keep this entry short!
I
was only about 10 minutes late. I spent most of today at the Clinical
Sciences Research Building with David Chi getting Lotus Notes loaded
on Amy’s PC; and today is not even one of my “floor call”
days.
Nothing
special about today (its a Monday). Work a little late putting together
some statistics for the office. Went to Talayna’s for a beer and
picked up Chinese for from across the street. I need to load Quicken2000
on my PC, but haven’t got to it yet.
TUESDAY
- April
3, 2001
7:50a
- I found it hard to get up again this morning. I don’t know if
its the time change or what. My mouth is still having a major problem
with ulcers. I was in pain most of the night. I thought it was getting
better yesterday, but it seems to have taken a turn for the worse. I
would like to go to a doctor, but I still don’t have any medical
coverage. I can sign up for it in May, but it won’t go into effect
until July. Still pisses me off! I quit a higher paying job with Anheuser-Busch
as a Project Administrator to take this position at Washington University,
mainly for the benefits. Well, I got the less pay part, but I still
do not have the benefits!
Today
is a floor call day, I have a lot to do and don’t feel like doing
any of it.
I
didn’t get as much accomplished today I as I would have liked.
My mouth is still a painful disaster area and I went to the bar after
work for pain reliever! The liquor actually does help some. Then I went
for Chinese food again. Tonight it was Beef & Broccoli.
WEDNESDAY
- April
4, 2001
7:43a
- Try to sleep with these ulcers in my mouth was another night of hell.
I
washed some clothes and hung them to dry in the shower, but they are
not dry this morning. I guess I need to run them down to the dryer when
I take Kira out.
Another
“non-spectacular” day at work. After work, I met Terry at
the bar where we sat and chatted with Kevin for a while. I went by the
Chinese place again ... Cashew Chicken again.
Oh!
Something good happened! I got my Visa Debit/ATM card! YAY!!
And,
Jack has set up my domain on Dotster..... I will have the www.jubchuqun.com
domain.
THURSDAY
- April
5, 2001
7:49a
- I am so tired this morning... Kira got me up around 4 or 5am... she
was experiencing respiratory distress. I had to take her outside where
she munched on grass for 10 or 15 minutes... I finally had to stop her.
I sat up with her the rest of the morning in case she had another attack
(or threw up the grass!). Anyway, she is fine now. She has these little
“attacks” every now and then, but this one seemed a little
worse. Maybe its because I had the window open... she is not used to
the plants (and pollens) in this region. She may have a little trouble
adapting.
FRIDAY
- April
6, 2001
10:29a
- I must be 80 degrees outside! I took Kira out and came back in sweating.
Of course, I don’t feel well today, but it really is warm out
there. The high today is 83!
Speaking
of not feeling well... I called in sick today. I hated to do so, but
the ulcers in my mouth are just getting ridiculous!
The
ulcers have gotten much better today! I am so glad. It has been too
hot today. Air Conditioners are being turned on... Spring is REALLY
here now!
I
jot my new web site up & running! I am going to have to redesign
it now, however. It doesn’t seem right to go to “jubchuqun.com”
and find “Lee’s Place.”
SATURDAY
- April
7, 2001
8:59a
- I wish someone would turn the AC on, its hot in here!
This
morning I will be uploading my diary to the new site while I take Kira
for a walk.
I
got most of my new site up today, but it will still take a lot of work
getting the kinks out of the links.
SUNDAY
- April
8, 2001
Went
out with Terry this evening for brunch and some beers. Spring is full
force out there now! It’s great. A little too hot already... but
that goes with the territory.
MONDAY

Happy
Birthday!
to Kevin Crowder |
7:59p
- It was back to work today. Learned this morning that Tracy’s
last day will be the 20th. So now its official. We really hate to see
her leave.
Lisa
was not at work today; her dog, Romeo, may have cancer! Poor thing.
They will probably have to have him “put to sleep.” Her
daughter, Hanna, will be so devastated.
I
am still getting my web site together... just about ready to “go
solo” I think. However, I need to do some redesigning first.
I
just heard on TV that the “Odyssey” was launched for Mars...
last Saturday I think they said. So... another space exploration device
is on its way. Mankind needs to get more serious about this before we
run out of time.
Finally
got my laundry done! (I hate doing laundry!)
TUESDAY
- April
10, 2001
7:49a
- We had a thunderstorm last night so I left the computer off over night.
That’s rare.
7:51a
- I am supposed to go to an awards banquet with Marty to night at some
place called Attitudes. It is apparently awards for the dart tournament.
It might be fun.
Had
fun at the banquet. Ate some food, drank some drinks, took some pics
and met a lot of nice people. I am glad I went. There was a raffle and
I joined in. I won (of all things) a ball cap. I got e-mail addresses
from several people including Holly and Jan and “Moonchild”
(aka Wendy). I will have to send them pictures. I also took pictures
of the bar’s mascot, “Gill” ... the goldfish.
WEDNESDAY
- April
11, 2001
8:09a
- Feel like crap this morning! Already behind schedule. <sigh>
... guess I had best get moving here....
Well...
I got into a horrible conflict with George at work. We had a server
go down and clients could not reach their network drives. I broadcast
a network wide message confirming that we were experiencing network
problems and George took that as personal insult. He felt I should have
said server problem, not “network” problem.... technical
semantics. Regardless of if he was right or not, I really don’t
care, he jumped in my case; shaking his finger at me and chewing me
out in front of whoever was present. He is not my boss, and even if
he were, that was no way for him to act toward me. I thought he might
try to hit me! I was concerned for my physical safety. I immediately
wrote a memo to the director about the incident. I know George’s
hobby is shooting guns and I don’t want to be the victim of another
one of those “going postal” incidents!. I have actually
considered looking for another job... I don’t want to, but its
not worth getting killed over!
I
ordered some color ink cartridges for my printer on-line this afternoon.
I have NEVER received anything that I ordered on line yet, and I have
tried to do so 3 times so far. Maybe I will have better luck this time.
It was from Hewlett Packard, so at least it is a well know and reputable
company.
Oh!
I created my own e-mail address on my new web site and tested it today....
it works! I may now receive e-mail via kpach@jubchuqun.com!! YAY!!
I
went to Pappa John’s and got pizza for supper.
THURSDAY
- April
12, 2001
7:56
- It’s windy and cool outside, but I have the window open. My
door was rattling all night from the wind. I finally crammed a piece
of paper in the edge of the door to stop it.
Things
were awkward at work today after the incident with George, but I’ve
been through a lot worse. However, before leaving work today, I read
a memo from the director that said she had asked George to take off
work on Friday and Monday! Is he being suspended? Part of me feels terrible
about this. I could have let it go without saying anything, but he has
done this to others in the past and apparently has gotten away with
it. He is not going to treat ME like a fool and have me just sit there
and take it. I survived and thrived for 15 years in the “shark
infested waters” of city hall. This is child’s play in comparison!
FRIDAY
- April
13, 2001
 |
8:06a
- I looks beautiful outside. I have the window open and the air
blowing in is cool, but not a cool (I hope) as yesterday.
Terry
still owes me money and it is bothering me. He has always paid
me back, but he always takes his time and has excuse after excuse
as to why. He has gotten mugged, lost his wallet, lost his ATM
card, didn’t receive his ATM card yet, received someone
else’s ATM card, did not get paid his overtime, did not
get paid the correct amount on his paycheck, couldn’t leave
work as planned (to meet me with money) because people were being
fired.... these are some of the reasons that he has given me.
I don’t know if they are all true or part true or what,
but it starts to look fishy to me after a while. I start to predict
when he is going to have some reason he can’t pay me back
and that is not a good sign. But my account is getting very low
and if it gets below a certain amount I will be charged a fee.
|
It
is not much, but I should not end up having to pay a fee as a result
of loaning someone money.
I
went out tonight and saw Skip (not my brother) and Ed and Terry all
sitting together. Terry said his Dad was coming in to visit this weekend
and invited me to have lunch or dinner with them on Sunday. I think
I should meet Terry’s Dad, since Terry is going to be my roommate
soon, so I accepted.
Then
I took a cab to Attitudes and had a great time. I love watching the
line dancing... it gets one’s blood rushing! Ed was supposed to
give me a ride, but I lost him on the way out, so I took the cab.
SATURDAY
- April
14, 2001
9:49a
- It is beautiful outside this morning. The sun is shining, its not
too hot, its not too cold, there is a gentle breeze, the birds are chirping
and the flowers are in bloom. If only everyday could be so perfect.
I
am sitting here watching “The Zeta Project” ... a Saturday
morning cartoon. I still love to watch cartoons on Saturday mornings.
I have a touch of a hangover from partying a little too much last night,
but I just fixed a bowl of NE Clam Chowder and had a bottle.
The
only goal I have for this weekend it to get my new jubchuQun front page
designed and created. I may try using DreamWeaver to make it.
2:46p
- I have wiped out all my files on Jacks web site... my old site at
www.pwx.com/lee. I left behind a transfer page, but I have all my files
moved over to the new site now at www.jubchuqun.com.
10:32p
- Marty came by and went went out to dinner. Then we went by a novelty
store and I bought a terribly over priced tank top.

EASTER
 |
Jack
& Adam went for brunch and a movie at the Tivoli this morning
and invited me to join them, but I was supposed to go with Terry
& his Dad today.
Well,
Terry hasn’t contacted me on line or by phone and I have
no idea when or where we are supposed to go... of if. I should
have gone with Jack & Adam, I guess.
|
 |
 |
I
decided to go to a movie. I watched “Spy Kids.” It was
actually quite entertaining! It was a bit juvenile, but I enjoyed
it. Then I went over to Casa Gallardo to get some of their chicken
tenders, but I sat there for 5-10 minutes and the girl behind the
bar (I did not know her) just ignored me. I finally got up and walked
out. I went upstairs to Hooters, sat out on the balcony, and had
a few beers and some hot wings. Then I went back down to Casa G
and Bradon was behind the counter, so I stayed and had a couple
more beers and a basket of chips. |
 |
Baseball
was on. I think St. Louis beat Houston (who cares). I also took a lot
of pictures today. At least two camera-loads full.
I
tried calling my Aunt Marlene, but there was no answer. I left a message.
MONDAY
- April
16, 2001
Here
we go again... another week... George will be out today, but he is due
back tomorrow. I expect it will be very awkward for all concerned. I
hope he doesn’t blame me for what happened.
Today
was a bit rough at work. Lisa and Brenda were both taking a day off.
This is Tracy’s last week and she has been busy training Debie
all the IDXRad stuff she can, so it was mostly me handling everything.
Stopped
at the bar on the way home for a drink with Terry. Met a nice guy named
Leonard. I emailed him.
I
stopped at the Chinese place on the way home for some supper (more cashew
chicken)... and while I was waiting I got my book out to read.... AND
FINISHED IT!!! I have been ready Robert Jordan’s 7th book in the
“Wheel of Time” series for nearly 3 years!! YAY!! It a done
deal!
TUESDAY
- April
17, 2001
8:23a
- It was cold and windy last night... and I am way behind schedule this
morning!
Just
barely made it to work on time.
I
spent a large part of the day writing an article at the Director’s
request for “The WaveLength,” our departmental newsletter.
I was accepted with very little editing and will be published in the
next issue of The Wavelength.
Terry
gave me a receipt this evening for the apartment. He has scheduled everything
to be done in the apartment including installation of the satellite
dish and cable/DSL. He has also graciously allow me to have the bedroom
with the private bath, which happens to be the master bedroom. he says
he does not care. Now.... if June (15th) will just hurry and get here!
I need to be looking into movers.
I
should have done laundry tonight but did not. Hope I can find something
to wear tomorrow!

7:55a
- My back has been hurting me since last Friday. I thought it was my
chair or posture at first and kept trying to adjust things, but it continues
to ache. I am worried it could be something wrong with my left kidney.
Met
Jack after work for cocktails. Terry joined us as well. Jack We came
home and walked Kira then went down to the Chinese place for supper.

lumbar area).
THURSDAY
- April
19, 2001
7:59a
- I think my back feels better this morning.
It
does not seem to be as cold out... I notice the kitchen windows was
left open all night.
I
need to go to the store tonight to get some groceries and ingredients
for Tracy’s Farewell Luncheon tomorrow. I am so sad to see her
leave!
Made
it to the store.... got all my shopping done. I took a cab home. I didn’t
feel like waiting for the bus and carrying all those things this time.
I
stayed up till 2:00am cooking! (...and sipping brandy). I am going to
hate myself in the morning!
FRIDAY
- April
20, 2001
8:03am
- I hate myself. Yep. This is going to be a long day. But my 2 rice
dishes came out great. One is with meat and done Mexican Style. The
other is veggie with broccoli and cheese. Beautifully garnished in both
cases!
8:04am
- It’s comfortable outside, I think. The windows are open, but
the A/C is not on. It is cloudy... might be raining, I can’t tell
for sure.
My
back still hurts, but I think its getting better now. Last night while
e shopping, I also picked up some Acidophilus (to help prevent the mouth
ulcers I always get), and some cranberry capsules (to help with any
possible urinary tract problems).

Tracy’s
farewell party was bigger, I think, than either our Christmas or Thanksgiving
luncheons! We will miss her so much.... but life goes on. “The
only constant, is change.” ...as it is said. My rice dishes were
well received and several people ask me for the recipe. Unfortunately,
cooking for me is an art, not a science. I don’t use a formula
(i.e., a “recipe”) ... I create as I go. Each dish is a
one-of-a-kind, one-time only production. I think my veggie dish with
broccoli & cheese was the better of the two... despite being the
meat lover I am. It has a great flavor and was beautifully garnished.
I have pictures and will try to put one on this page somewhere if I
can.
Despite
being exhausted from staying up late last night cooking (...and, yes,
the brandy played a role), I was still talked into going out for a couple
of drinks with Marty after work. Y’idaench’ ilrael’
aantwe_uute, t’be yidaench’ aantwe_uut’ iib’
iinme. Ose y’entwe. And he was so kind! He took me down
to Jay International Foods so I could buy some Jasmine rice, some Sazón
(con azafrán), oyster mushrooms and other of the odd foods I
insist on keeping on-hand. I emptied the last of the 3 25lb bags of
rice that I brought with me. They were just a cheap Cuban rice from
Albertsons, and I am glad to get them finished off before they become
weevil laden. Jasmine rice is so much more flavorful than the “standard
store bought” rice (which I sometimes call plastic rice).
So,
Marty dropped me off at the house and after fixing a bite to eat, I
went to bed I turned the TV off at 9:25pm! I didn’t even set my
computer IM’s to show that I was in bed...

en Memoriam!
to "Néhna"
or Mabel Florence Helen Dabbs
my dear maternal Grandmother
She would be 86 years old today! |

Loving
thoughts for my late grandmother,
Mable “Néhna” Watts
7:34a
- I am up early this morning! Already had some laundry going before
7:00am. I am catching up my diary now, and downloading pictures from
the party yesterday. Then I will take Kira for her morning constitutional.
After that I will open my new package of vacuum cleaner bags (the ones
I ordered on-line) and see if I can clean up some of the dog hair in
my room. Kira is going thru a major case of seasonal shedding!! You
can pull out hand fulls of hair from her. I am going to bathe her today
as well. And I left a pan and my crock pot unwashed last night (I was
just too tired), so when Jack gets up I will make sure those get washed....
I may as well just wash all the dishes, there are not that many. And
I’ll clean up the stove & cabinets. My main goal in the kitchen
however is to get the floor mopped. Dog hair from Kira shedding is blowing
in drifts across the floor!
Marty
also invited me to go to an amateur HAM operator’s picnic today.
I am not sure if I will make that or not. I have a lot to do. I might
be fun though.
I
made it to the picnic. I took Kira and I am so glad I did! She had so
much fun (it made me feel good). There were other dogs there and after
she got used to them, I let her loose. She was very well behaved and
romped and played until she was exhausted! (She is nearly 8 years old,
after all. That is nearly 50 years old in canine equivalency).
I
thought I would go out for the evening when I got home, but I was more
tired that I expected an besides, it was raining and storming out. So,
I just went down to Nik’s Wine Bar for a few drinks, then came
home and went to bed.
SUNDAY
- April
22, 2001
8:46a
- I got another good nights sleep... that’s two in a row on the
weekend ... very rare! I look beautiful out there; I haven’t taken
Kira out yet.
I
have got to get laundry done today. I did not get as much done yesterday
as I had planned since Jack got up and started cooking. I got my pans
washed (since he basically told me to), but did not get the floor mopped
as planned since I didn’t want to be sweeping while he had food
cooking. Oh, and the vacuum cleaner won’t suck ... which ironically
“sucks!” I will have to pull the thing apart and see what’s
wrong with it. I have been very successful in the past at fixing vacuum
cleaners ... especially the upright models like my Kenmore. So, anyway,
I did not get all the dishes washed, did not get my room vacuumed, but
at least I got my bedclothes laundered. I will try to get the rest of
my laundry done today... and then treat myself to some chip & dip
& brewskies and Casa Gallardo, and a movie! ...ok.... first, take
Kira out.... here we go....
***
I
went to Hooters instead. Some Ethiopian acquaintances of mine happened
to be there and waved and greeted me in Ethiopian. I greeted them back
in the same language and other patrons stared at me with a curious look
on their faces.
I
bought a choker chain for myself at Union Station. Then I went to Clem’s
where I ran into Terry. We went to a new place called “Bastille”
where we had some tacos. Terry left before me, but on the way home I
stopped by his apartment to visit. Then I came home and fixed some supper
(like I hadn’t been eating all day), but I started feeling bad
and ended up putting everything in the ‘fridge for later.
MONDAY
- April
23, 2001
7:57a
- It’s muggy this morning. I have been online for the past half
hour chatting with my cousin Colleen. But... got to get up and take
Kira out. Here goes another week!
Lisa
had to leave work early (12:30) to take her dog (Romeo) to the vet again.
It looks like the poor thing may have terminal cancer; and of course,
today was our first day without Tracy. So, the day was fairly busy,
but not out of control.
Joined
Terry at LZ tonight, then came home and warmed up my food from last
night, washed dishes and went to bed.
TUESDAY
- April
24, 2001
7:45a
- I had so many disturbing dreams last night. Did not sleep well. And
my back is still hurting this morning.
7:52a
- It was getting chilly out yesterday... I hope it feel good out there
this morning. I have the window cracked, so I know it isn’t TOO
cold.
Boring
day. Came straight home from work and walked Kira. There were so many
dogs being walked tonight! There must have been about 20 people out
with there dogs. Likely because it was such a beautiful day. The temperature
was perfect, with a very mild breeze.
I
watched Buffy (the vampire slayer) for the first time in weeks, fixed
a bite to eat (using some of this HORRIBLE Missouri ground beef... so
full of fat! ick!) The meat quality here is really bad and costs nearly
twice a much.

7:41a
- Marty got some information on an upcoming Star Trek Convention! I
have to go over it, but hopefully we can attend. I haven’t been
to a convention in ages. Of course, no one knows me here. It won’t
be the same, but I can meet new people. It will be fun getting back
into the “Klingon” community again! They are such fun loving
people. See my Klingon site at www.jubchuqun.com/klingon to see me and
other of my Klingon family in full costume.
Today
was secretary’s day. Brenda had lots of balloons and cards
and she got a fish in a vase with a plant in it. Lisa and I got
here a photo album cube of burnished steel with revolving panels
which hold a total of 10 pictures.

THURSDAY
- April
26, 2001
7:44a
- I had a scare this morning! I could not find my digital camera! I
thought someone must have stolen it out of my sachel. But, I found it
sitting in the hall way. I have no idea why it was sitting there. So
glad I found it.
Today
everyone is bringing there children in with them to work. They are really
going to want me to bring my camera.
7:47a
- It looks like another beautiful day out there.
I
went to a Lotus Notes Users Group meeting this afternoon. Brought home
my dishes from last week’s party. I went straight home from work,
fixed a bite to eat and went to bed a little after 8:00pm.
I
did get some more information on costs for hiring movers. Laura mentioned
the company “Two Men and a Truck,” so I checked them out.
Unfortunately, because I am on a third floor, they require THREE men.
They were going to cost $104 for 3 men & a truck, plus $88 service
fee and $100 deposit for a minimum of 2 hours. I am expecting it should
take about 4 hours.
- Costs for Two Men and a Truck (including the deposit): $604.00
So
far I think I will stick with Fry-Wagner. They will cost $25 per man
and $15 per truck, per hour. Minimum 4 hours. They have a $100 driving
fee, but the forgave me that fee since I am nearby and not traveling
far.
- Costs for Fry Wagner would be a total of: $260.00
So
far... no competition.

7:39
- I had some strange STRANGE dreams last night. I can’t remember
it all, it was such a jumble, but at point I dreamed about some kind
of evil energy creature that could travel through the telephone lines.
I was going to call it up and try to smother it in blankets when it
came through to get me.... now that was weird. I have no idea WHERE
that dream cam from.
Then,
at 1:30am, I had one of those dreams that I don’t feel was a dream.
It was more like I was connected to someone else’s mind. And I
know where this time... Japan! I was riding a train. I remember seeing
one of two men in the “cockpit” or “cab” (or
what ever the front of the train is called). He was Japanese. The other
people around me appeared to be Caucasian, but I knew in someway that
they were simply “dream filler” ... they were not real,
I just dreamed them. But I remember reading something... the back of
a brochure. I seemed to understand what I was reading, yet at the same
time I had no clue as to what it said.... since it was written in Japanese.
It were as though I were linked to someone’s mind (my “host”)
and could sense his comprehension, and could see through his eyes. But
my link was not deep enough to follow his thoughts... just sense his
comprehension. It was all very clear and un-dreamlike, except for the
fake white people. And I was clearly aware that there were not real.
I got the impression it was morning there. Maybe around 8:00am to 10:00am.
Also
in my dreams, and very disturbing, were Doug Cross (who passed away
on March 31, 1996) and my late mother (passed on 4/29/84). Two people
I loved very much, both dead, both in my dreams on the same night. Again...
very disturbing.
Well...
it looks like another beautiful day out there. Time to take Kira out...
SATURDAY
- April
28, 2001
10:05a
- I went to Talayna’s last night. I was going to go out for a
while, but stopped there for a couple of Drinks. Josh was tending bar
and Nathaniel was there. I sat and talked with Nathaniel for a while
and had two rum & cokes. Then I decided to have one more before
leaving. I drank a little from the third one and Josh says, “Here,
let me top that off for you....” and he poured in some rum. However,
it was 151 rum! The drink was so strong I had to have him pour it into
a bigger glass and add some coke! I had been fine until I drank that
one, then I barely remember leaving Talayna’s! I went home and
woke up this morning with the TV on.... and a massive hangover. I only
had 3 drinks! In fact, my bill (including tip) only came to $8.51!!
I
got my vacuum cleaner working today. There was a sock stuck in the hose.
So I did some vacuuming and also mopped the kitchen floor, finally.
Other than that, I did not really do much of anything all day. I didn’t
even leave the house except to walk Kira. I went to bed early, but I
did get to sleep until after 3:00am!

Remembering my late mother, Colleen Lewis (1937-1984)
11:22a
- Today is another BEE-OOOT-EEE-FUL day outside! I already took Kira
for her walk. I am supposed to go to a Wal-Mart with Marty today, but
I am not sure what time.
I
was thinking about taking the train out to the airport today and see
what kind of interesting pictures I might be able to take.
11:30a
- A pigeon just landed on the window sill. I told Kira to go look out
the window and at first she didn’t see it ... then she freaked
and snapped at it (forgetting the screen). I was quite funny. I think
she believes she just defended us from a vicious killer pigeon! LOL!!

Marty
came by and picked me up. We ended up going over to Clem’s
where we met Terry and walked down to Bastille. I finally got a
bite to eat, but not enough. Some kind of pasta salad and some chili
dish with cheese on top (which was quite delicious). I took a lot
of pictures. |

Terry
borrowed $20 from me ... I am not sure why. I thought he had plenty
of money and his ATM card. Then Marty and Terry dropped me off at Union
Station to catch the train home, but the doors were all locked! I walked
along kept trying to get in different places... then finally I got to
a main entrance an it was open. I was starting to get concerned. I thought
I was going to have to walk around the entire Station. Anyway, then
I went to Casa Gallardo and had some chicken fingers. I was starving!
I left there to catch the train and timed it perfectly. I got there
just as a train was arriving... no waiting. Can’t do that every
time, especially not on a Sunday!

Happy Beltaine!
7:43a
- I understand there are major computer problems at work and that Laura
has been there all night. I got a partial message from Lisa this morning
that said:
We
are experiencing network issues on the North Campus and in the Breast
Health Center. We expect this to show up to the North Campus users in
the form of being able to logon to IDXRad but the connection not being
able to be maintained and to the Breast Health Center in the form of
not being able to logon at all. There was a network upgrade performed
by BJC Saturday afternoon. We have been troubleshooting this around
the clock since yesterday morning when the North Campus users alerted
us. Within the last hour, the problem was identified and a "Band-Aid"
solution has been identified. We have a quick fix that we will try.
If that does not work, it may take a good part of today to get an alternate
path through MSCNS (bypassing BJC altogether). We apologize for this
huge in...
It
sounds like its going to be a bad day!
Well,
the morning was pretty bad, but the problems were brought under control
by noon.
This
was payday also. The first time my paycheck was direct deposited.
Jack
& Adam & I all went downstairs to The SunFlour Café for
supper tonight. I paid for the wine (I forget what kind is was, but
it was similar to a Cabernet). I had an appetizer of Risotto patties
which were lightly fried and garnished with pine nuts and goat cheese,
on a bed of spring greens. They were just delicious!
Okay...
lets move on to May...
