7:52a - It’s really bright outside this morning. I hope its warm enough to go to work without my jacket this morning. Today is April fool’s day. I can never think of a good joke to play.

Lisa was not at work today and the morning was pretty hectic. Our new secretary start today. I loaded the iPass program for the first time this morning on Dr. Teefey’s machine.

I carried my personal HP Scanner in to the office today, but discovered that it will not work on NT 4.0! I hooked it up to the PC next to me which has Windows 2000, but it insists on using USB... and I don’t have a USB cable! This is getting very frustrating. I should have one at home that would have come with the scanner

Yahoo has violated my privacy and I have decided to slowly removed myself from their use. I am encouraging others to do the same.

OLD DIARY 1976: First day in boot camp.

Tuesday - April 2, 2002

OLD DIARY 1996: Went to Doug’s funeral service (Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home) (Winter Garden) Nikki Everett, Michael Salvato myself & Skip went together. Went to the Cross’ afterward. Got flat tire on way home.

7:50a - I am making rice this morning for the first time in several days.

Barnabas chewed my plants again and then puked up the green remnant in the hallway. Then pissed on Kira’s bed for the 3rd time! I am really getting distressed by his bad/destructive behaviour.

It raining! Darn... I left my only remaining umbrella at the office. I specifically looked at it last night hanging on the rack and decided it would probably not rain. I just didn’t want to carry it.

Fortunately, it was not raining when I left to go to work.

7:54a - I can’t find the USB cable. I don’t have any idea where it might be (or if I even have one!).

Skip left Kira’s cushion cover soaking in the bathtub... which means I will have to deal with it when I take my bath in the morning. I used to take pleasant baths in the tub with scented perfumes and/or salts & oils. Now I have to take a shower while kicking my dogs cover that the cat pissed out out of the way. And no way will I try lounging luxuriously in the tub ... next to the cat box with its ammoniac odour of cat pee and poop. <sigh>

Wednesday - April 3, 2002

8:24a - It’s not raining. I am really late. Haven’t even taken Kira out yet. Gotta run....

I put the Kira’s bed cover in Skip’s foot soaking pan out of the way while I took my shower. Much better than showering WITH it.

Only got to work about 30 minutes late, but I worked thru lunch. In fact I did not even get up from my desk for 4½ hours after arriving. I logged 33 calls today! (There was a total of 47 calls logged by 5 or 6 people). Many calls do not get logged at all, such as when people call and asked to be transferred to someone else, wrong numbers, or people who call back on problems or requests which have already been logged. In such cases we just make a “diary entry” into the existing call. I am trying to find a way to count these occurrences too.

I am still reading THE LORD OF THE RINGS. Frodo has finally made it to Rivendale and found Bilbo Baggins there in Elrond’s house, as well as waking to find Gandalf sitting over his bed. Oh, and then he met the Dwarf, Gloin, who traveled with Bilbo, 50 years before. So... I am now into Book II.

Went to Talayna’s after work. Nathaniel showed up (I thought to take his picture tonight). There was a Cardinal’s game tonight and even Talayna’s was crowded.. at 6:30p!!

10:28p - The dog bed cover was still in the bathtub, in the pan, when I got home. I was disgusted and took it, and some more clothes, and have the in the washer/dryer now.

Thursday - April 4, 2002

7:43a - I am a little more on time this morning for a change. Rice is cooking. Its chilly in here; I don’t have the heat on this morning. Well, time to walk Kira so I can’t stay on schedule this morning.

Today there was a total of 44 calls logged today by 3 people. I think I did 22 or 23 of them. Gary was competitive and trying catch every call that came in. I did not pass his call count until after he left. You go Gary! :)

I noticed it was 48 degrees when I got home this evening. It is light out when I get home now. I think the time changes this weekend, so it will be VERY light out next week!

Skip is feeling sick today. He talked to me on-line. I hope its not contagious. I have been relatively healthy for a long time.

Friday - April 5, 2002

7:46a - Skip was too sick to go to work. Its bright and sunny out this morning. I hope that means we are going to have a nice weekend. Well... rice is on and dog needs walked.

Mi tre feliĉas ke hodiaŭ estas la vendredo! DDEV! (Dank’ al Dio Estas Vendredo!)

I got 32 calls logged today. Lisa had to go home early. Her teeth were causing her too much pain.

Skip walked Kira and the met me at Union Station. We had some beer at Hooter’s and I had a plate of 20 buffalo shrimp.

After we got home, I chopped up a couple of Nappa cabbages and some Daikon radish which Skip picked up for me at the store today and started a new batch of kim chee. THIS time I will rinse the salt off MUCH more thoroughly. The last batch had too much ginger and was to salty.

Saturday - April 6, 2002

7:48a - I’ve already walked Kira and its even earlier than I usually take her out on a weekday!

7:58a - I just rinsed the kim chee and have it soaking in plain cold water now.

7:59a - I have such a headache. Too much beer last night. And it was on top of an empty stomach. I just had rice for breakfast yesterday and skipped lunch.

8:00a - I just had to clean the JS.Exception.Exploit virus off of my computer! I guess Norton found it last night. I quarantined it. I wonder if that has been the cause of my weird problems this past week or two?

4:47p - Skip and I went to to Jay International today (the multi-ethnic grocery store). That’s where I usually buy my rice, but today I didn’t buy rice. I got all kinds of different things, including some packages of kim chee mix, some fish sauce (for the kim chee too), maíz tortillas, some things which I think/hope are tapioca pellets, various seasonings and much more.

5:24p - Oh... and we went to “Vietnam Palace” for lunch. Then Skip got a haircut while I was shopping.

5:29p - I got all the seasonings in the kim chee. Now it must set until Tuesday.

It’s Saturday, but I didn’t do anything tonight.

Sunday - April 7, 2002

The time changed today. It was sunny out this morning, but there was a strong breeze and it was chilly out when I walked Kira.

I lounged around eating most of the day until around 3pm. I finally got motivated and went out for a few drinks.... which turned into more than I had planned! Yet strangely, I did not get wasted like I would have expected. Maybe because I spaced them out more slowly and had (for the first time) a couple of the “Red Bull” non-alcoholic energy drinks in between.

I took a cab home and Jack called me just as I got in the cab. We (including Adam) decided to go out for supper. We ended up going to Mekong, a Vietnamese place over on Grand. I like the “Vietnam Palace” better I think. There prices are much more reasonable and I think the have a wider selection. But they need to work on the service and atmosphere some.

Monday - April 8, 2002

8:08a - I is very overcast an WET out this morning. Very dreary. And I am up an hour earlier than usual. At least I got a fairly good night’s sleep. I already have rice and marsoor dal (split red lentils) cooking with some corned beef.

8:09a - Now to take K dog out in this ugly looking weather. Yuck.

I logged 30 calls today.

Jack Ad’ Ut’ arborre ums’ unmaene umfr’ Ime yenge. izth’ aimte C’aasw’ iksunhaedr Aldorles.

Jack and I had drinks at Talayna’s after work. There was some deranged girl named Penny there who was very irritating. I presented my Esperanto menu to Mike, but she was interrupting and kind of ruined the entire presentation.

Tuesday - April 9, 2002

8:07a - It is another yucky, dreary day this morning. The temperature this time yesterday was 59 degrees. It looks colder this morning.

I logged about 22 calls today.

The day cleared up and because a beautiful day. It’s supposed to be a real nice weekend.

I ordered a couple of shirts online with Dillard's tonight.

Wednesday - April 10, 2002

7:56a - It look beautiful outside this morning. I have rice cooking already (sort of Greek style). I used the last of my Jasmine rice this morning. That means I can open the Basmati rice now.

I went to Talayna’s after work tonight.

Jack & Adam...Scenes from Talayna's... and Me ang Jack...

Friday - April 12, 2002

Darlene had her surgery today. I called Calais several times to find out how she was. I was so worried.

Calisa is in Sacramento at this time with her women’s group.

I just sat at home tonight and had some rum & fruit juice cocktails.

Saturday - April 13, 2002

Skip and I went to Soulard Market this morning. I bought a lot of veggies. I really needed some vegetables. I got some cucumbers, grape tomatoes, asparagus, okra, zucchini and more.

I was bored and went out tonight. I sat and had a few drinks while reading a magazine at the bar (real festive, I know). Then this guy named Floyd joined me and we got to talking. We ended up going down the street to another bar where we had another drink or two. By then it was late and the bars were closing, so we called a cab. Floyd wanted to get something to eat, but I suggested we just go back to my place. Skip had cooked a huge vat of beans and 2-3 pans of jalapeño corn bread. Floyd agreed that this sounded much better than some hamburger joint!

The cab arrived .... or at least A cab arrived and Floyd ran out to get his attention. While I was waiting for him, some other guy who I did not know joined me. He called himself Damian, and I learned he was headed in our direction. He ended up riding in the cab with us. I thought he was going on, but when we got to Gentry’s, he insisted on paying the cab fare and somehow ended up in our company. I was a bit tipsy and of course brought up with that Southern hospitality thing... so I felt obliged to play host. We got to my place a little after 3am (waking Skip in the process) and fixed some food. Floyd conked out almost immediately on the sofa. Damian was on the love seat and I was wishing he would move along. I tried to politely hint a couple of times that it was getting late, but he seemed oblivious to my hints. I finally dozed off and woke up later to find that he had (finally!) left. I locked the door and conked out on the love seat. It was still dark. Maybe around 4:00 or 5:00 am.

Sunday - April 14, 2002

Around 7:00am Skip got up. Floyd was still conked out on the sofa and me on the love seat. Skip woke me and I got Floyd to move to the bed and I took the other side and we both went back to la-la land. Around 9am I finally had to get up. Kira had to go out of course.

First, I warmed up some coffee for me & Floyd and we kind of sat around getting oriented. That’s when I noticed my wallet sitting on a TV tray. I did not remember EVER leaving my wallet sitting out (never with strangers in the house). I picked it up and knew immediately that something was wrong. The wallet felt to limp and thin. I had a sudden sinking feeling, but opened the wallet anyway. I already knew what I would NOT find. My bankcard was gone. But worse... Skip’s spare bankcard was gone, my driver license was gone, my social security card, and my monthly bus/train pass!!

I felt sick. I told Skip and Floyd what happened and Floyd commented that I needed to cancel the cards immediately. I agreed and went into the kitchen to get the phone. The phone was gone too! Base unit, hand set and power cord... all! I came back and told Skip the phone was gone and he asked me if I had tried paging it. He did not realize the ENTIRE UNIT was gone!

The sinking feeling was getting worse. I suddenly wondered about my cell phone and ran back to the kitchen to check. It was gone too.

Shortly thereafter, Skip discovered his red backpack (which he has had for years) was gone too. We figure “Damian” use this to carry the stuff out.

I was so depressed! But at least he did not get my headset phone (probably because it does not look like a regular telephone). We were able to call the bank to report ours cards as stolen and my cell phone as well. The bank reported that an attempt had been made to use Skip’s card in the amount of $258 at the Omni Hotel, but it was declined.

Later in the day, when I was resigned to accepting the fate of my own carelessness, Skip (after a few beers) decided to call the Omni Hotel to see if he could get any information. He did! He found out that the guy had checked in! We immediately called 911 and told them the situation. Skip and I threw ourselves together and headed over to the Omni at 11th and Pine (in walking distance). We met the police there, gave them our information, and they went up and arrested the guy. (I assume his name was not Damian).

I got my cell phone back (for which I was happy).

Around 10:00p, Officer Davis called me and asked me to me him at the Municipal Courthouse at 9:00am. I will be there! I sent email to the office advising them of my situation and letting them know I would be late.

I took a couple of Tylenol PM’s and went to bed around 10:30p.

Oh... (in the news) ... I think it was today that Charles Lindburg’s son landed at Lambert Airport. He is due to take off for the remainder of his journey on Saturday at 11:00am.

Tax Day

I got up a little early this morning. I slept like a log last night! I made it to the Courthouse at about 9:03am, but Officer Davis was not there yet. He did not arrive until nearly 10:00am. I finally got in to see the Asst City Attorney, presented my case, and was informed that the Court date would be on June 6th. I also learned that “Damian” had credit cards from some guy in Chicago and had an outstanding warrant. I was set up from the start with him I think. What a bad person. Why do people have to be this way? It is so depressing :(

Then I walked down to the bank (taking pictures all the way). I got my temporary bankcard and got my picture taken for my new bankcard.

Then I stopped by the Chinese restaurant down on the corner and got some Hot & Sour soup and some Crab Rangoon and came home. I ate and was suddenly POOPED. The events of the last day and a half were starting to catch up with me. I chatted with Lisa Z. on line (at work) and decided to take the remainder of the day off.

After resting a bit, I went to the MetroLink station and ended up having to pay another $30 to get 2 two-week passes (that’s a total of $75 for train passes this month!). The day was beautiful today... the temperature was up to 80 degrees at one point. I heard that today was a record setting high... possibly up to 87 degrees. (Or that the record was 87 degrees? ... not sure).

Skip and Kira

I gave Kira a bath with the anti-itch shampoo that I bought about 2 weeks ago. Later I took her for a walk on the Arch grounds. I took some time to just sit with her and watch the birds, the trees in bloom, the lake, and to just relax for a while. I was short, but re-energizing.

Later, I went out to Casa Gallardo and had some chips and beer and relaxed even further. I think my emotions are about back to normal now.

10:29 - My diary has become corrupt. I don't know when I will be able to publish it properly again/

Tuesday - April 16, 2002

Not much different today.  Same ol' same ol'!

Wore one of my new shirts to work today. (Ordered fro Dillard's on-line).

Wednesday - April 17, 2002

This was a typical day until after work. I went to Talayna's and the girl we met a couple of weeks ago (Penny) crashed her car through the foyer! She smashed the building in good, then pulled out of the parking lot and crashed into a van. Then she went on down the road banging into everything.

Scenes for the foyer at Talayna's after "Penny" crashed her car through the front window!

Received my new bankcard in the mail today.

Thursday - April 18, 2002

10:15pm - The AC filters were changed today. The exterminator was supposed to be here (don't know yet). I went out this evening and the entire doorknob popped off the door and flew across the room! I also activated my new bankcard at the convenience store next door.

Friday - April 19, 2002

This was a day from hell at work. We had someone trying to hack into our system at work. It was like a war zone.

This evening it poured down rain… it felt like Florida! I went down to Casa G. and had some beer and some chicken fingers. I called Miss Nita back in Osteen and chatted with her for a bit. Very pleasant. Things are about the same back there I guess.

Strange things are happening in the Klingon world with upheavals among the KEI membership. Very strange.

I picked up a Sushi menu from the WS Hotel next door! They have sushi! Cool!

So far, I am keeping my diary off-line in a Word Document until I can get Net Objects Fusion working again.

Saturday - April 20, 2002
Old Diary Entry for this date

I did not do much today. I went out to Attitudes and Freddie's for a while. Got a little too tipsy and came home.

Sunday - April 21, 2002

Did not do much today either. I did get some laundry done. Skip cooked up some corned beef and cabbage.

Monday - April 22, 2002

I felt so refreshed and energetic today. I went to Talayna's after work with pictures from the crash last Wednesday. I hear that Penny blew a 4.3 in the breathalyzer!

We had 51 calls logged when I left work this evening. That's a BUSY day!

Monday - April 23, 2002

9:59pm - Make that 55 by the end of the day (referring to how many calls were logged yesterday).

My diary web site is totally messed up. I am having to keep everything in a Word document for the time being.

Jonathan and Rober... at Talayna's. Jonathan still owes me $40 as of 11-17-05

10:01p - Today was a little chilly this morning, but it was 74 degrees when I left work this evening.  Chuck emailed me. He is planning on visiting around July 3rd thru July 7th. I look forward to his visit. It will be like family!

Wednesday - April 24, 2002

7:33a - I am please to report that my diary page in world successfully launched this morning (I set it up yesterday to do so). I cannot upload my diary, however. The file is just corrupt beyond repair. I tried to import my diary several different ways using both DreamWeaver and NOF2, but it is jus not working. This was all caused by the JS.Exception virus, I believe.

7:36a - I have to get moving now. Rice to cook & dog to walk. It's overcast and slightly hazy out this morning. I hope it's not too chilly.

Wow… we logged 71 calls at work today! I think that was a record. I did 39 of them and Lisa did about 24.

I went over to C. Masthay's house last night to work on his computer. I did not get home until around 10:30pm

Thursday - April 25, 2002

7:47a - I slept wrong last night and have a horrible headache this morning.

7:48a - It is bright and sunny out this morning.

8:00a - I just ran spell check on this document up to this point. There were many more errors that I expected!

I went in 2 hours late today, but I have worked through lunch everyday but two this month, so Dennis said to count them.

We did not take as many calls as yesterday, but we still logged about 52 calls at last count. I went to Casa G. after work, had a few beers and took a "Ramon Platter" home for supper.

Friday - April 26, 2002

7:46a - Friday at last! Another week down… but one must always wonder how many one has left. It looks like a beautiful day outside. At least it is sunny. I left the window open over night and it feels a bit chilly.

I went to bed fairly early today. I didn't feel like going anywhere.

Saturday - April 27, 2002

I thought I would go to Soulard Market this morning, but changed my mind. I sill have some food in the freezer, and I need to reduce the quantity. I fixed a frozen package of menudo for breakfast. Then Skip and I watched a movie he rented which had been wanting to see called "The Dog Men."  It was a very good movie. I am glad I finally got to watch it.

Later, Skip and I decided to go out for some drinks. The day was cloudy, overcast and drizzly … until we went out to catch the bus. Then the bottom dropped out and despite our umbrellas, we got kind of wet. We went over to Freddie's and had some drinks (Skip had never been there). We took a cab home with a vague acquaintance named Don. Skip went to bed and I ended up going down to LaClede's Landing where I roamed around watch tourists for a bit (apparently it was Prom Night). There were an exceeding amount of Limousines out tonight. I stopped in Hannigan's and had 2-3 rum & cokes and a bowl of clam chowder (Excellent clam chowder, too!!). Jack ended up picking me up down on the Landing. We went to his place so he could change, then went to "Uncle Bill's" where I ordered a steak! It has been years since I ordered a steak (I can't remember when).

So Jack dropped me off at home and I came in and rousted Skip from bed around 1:00am.

Sunday - April 28, 2002

10:07a - I got up about 9:30a and took Kira out. It is a beautiful day today. She got to see a squirrel and did her jumping up and down barking with excitement routine. She cracks me up. What would I do without my Kira? I don't want to think about it. I don't know when her birthday is exactly, but it would be sometime this summer. Probably early July or late June. Chad brought her home when she was about 4-6 weeks old and it was just shortly after he moved in. He moved in on July 24, 1993, (back in Deltona), so I think Kira was born near Independence Day.

10:27 - I have to do some laundry today.

YAY! I got all the laundry done! Then I went to Clem's for a while. I saw my friend David there. He has become so fat! I couldn't believe it.

Monday - April 29, 2002
En Memoriam - Colleen Lewis
(5/10/37 - 4/29/84)

7:51a - I did not sleep well at all last night. Major digestion problems. The sun is trying to come out….

7:52a - There it is! It was overcast a few moments ago, but the sun just came out strong.

I had to buy a train ticket this morning. The stupid machine took my money and did not give me a ticket. There was an inspector there and he gave me permission to ride with no ticket. Of course, I was asked for my ticket as soon as I got on the train! I thought it was going to be a problem, but the fare inspector accepted my explanation about the ticket with no argument.

I have felt sick all day. My stomach has been queasy. Then I started coughing about the time I got home. I fixed some creamed potato with a little bit of chicken & pork for supper. I was hoping it would be bland and not bother my stomach much, but I felt over full and bloated after just eating a little. I took some Tylenol pm's before going to bed, some seltzer, a little sodium bicarbonate, and a cup of night time Theraflu.

Tuesday - April 30, 2002

7:42a - I feel better this morning (so far). It is sunny out. I hope it warms up. To day is payday too… that's always good.

Jack edp' Akb' Ut' Im' IT' unmeine ihoj' ime. ATe S'utge!

I got the rent paid tonight, and last night I paid the cell phone and utilities. My regular phone bill was $156.00!! I almost never make long distance calls and when I do they rarely over 15 minutes. But over $50 worth of these bills were long distance, and not mine. One guess allowed as to who is responsible.
