8:13a - I feel better today.
The day is overcast but not cold. There is a cool wind blowing. Skip must
sleep today since his first night of work is tonight.
I came home tonight and saw about 3 huge
fire trucks in front of the apartment building. I found out that apparently
someone had thrown a lit cigarette down the garbage shoot and it had started
a fire. The entire building smelled like smoke (burned garbage to be exact!).
Skip was home when it happened and said he opened the front door and the
hall was filled with smoke. He knew is was not one of their “practice”
fire drills (that’s what they call them here). He grabbed in back
pack and and headed downstairs (feeling the stairwell door for heat before
opening it.... very sensible). He was 3 floors down when he remember Kira!
He went back and got her and they headed down the stairs. And I know from
experience that 23 flights of stairs is exhausting... even when traveling
DOWN!
I ordered Chinese food tonight
and tried to pay for it with my bankcard. It was declined! Now what?!
I know I have plenty of money in there. I reread my card number to them
and they said they had it correct. They tried three times. I am wondering
if it is due to the charges that were made on my account. I had the money
reimburse, but they said I had to sign forms and send them back. They
sent me the forms on the 23rd (the letter had that date). The enveloped
was postmarked the 25th. I received the letter on the evening of the 29th
and had it back in the mail the next afternoon on the 30th. The letter
stated that I had 10 days from the date of the letter ... that should
be the 2nd. This is the 1st. I don’t know. Fortunately, I had a
20 in my pocket and was able to pay. Now I wonder if my card will work
in the ATM.
FRIDAY
- November 2, 2001
7:49a - Well..... Skip is still at work.
He gets of at 8:30a. I bet he will be pooPed!
He was. He fell asleep on
the train on the way home and almost missed his stop!
8:17p - I used my card in
the ATM today and it worked fine.
8:18p - I went on a tour
of the CAM at work today. Most impressive. I took my camera of course
and got a lot of pictures.

8:19p - Y’aatge 2 aatbulst’
aavy’ iklaerke uutaitne.
8:30p - Y’inkthe y’aitm’
og’ aoch’ uutaitne... uut’ iithe Kaamplekse.
8:46p - I still smell the odor of the burning
garbage from the fire yesterday. And we are burning some incense to cover
it, but it is this CHEAP incense and smells worse than the smoke from
the fire! Ick!
8:51p - Well.... fye y’iib’
ogeingye uut’ og’ uut’ iith arb’ uut’ aitne,
y’esge y’utshe t’ge ey’ ufmaanye!!

Happy
Birthday to
one who is nearly family....
Nikki
Everett |
7:51p - I went to a Walgreen’s downtown
today with Terry that I have never been to. Bought myself a new iron (finally).
I got a good one. Irons usually last me a long time. My first one I bought
on the Navy base in Meridian, MS, in 1976. It was in my belongings that
went on to Miami (instead of Orlando) when I arrived at the Nuc School.
I bought my second iron also in 1976, then I got my baggage back (after
several weeks!) and so then I had two irons. I gave my first one away
to a family member I think. I am not sure. But the second iron lasted
me for the next 24 years! It was still working when I left it in Florida
along with most of my other belongings. So... this iron could well be
the last one I ever buy, assuming it lasts as long. so I bought the most
expensive one Walgreen’s had to offer at about $25. It looks kind
of spacey and looks like it will be a good iron. I will call this my birthday
gift for Nikki to me. I know its weird, but I don’t have a mailing
address for Nikki, so I can’t send her anything. So I will just
got myself this iron and will always remember that I bought it on her
birthday.
8:08p - Me, Skip & Terry went down to
the President Casino for lunch today. It was Skip’s first time to
the Casino. I was not too happy with the food. I didn’t realize
we were going to lunch (not dinner) and thought we would have the peel
& eat shrimp. I was looking forward to them. Now I have indigestion.
8:27p - Well... I need to try and get my
web site updated to the NOVEMBER theme now....
SUNDAY
- November 4, 2001
8:48a - I got my web site updated last night...
while drinking rum and brandy. I feel like something the dog wouldn’t
touch this morning. Ick!
8:49a - I put a pork roast in the crock
pot last night. I cut up my other yucca root a cooked with it. I smells
yummy in here this morning.
8:51a - I am going to try to get some chores
done today, including vacuuming and shampooing the carpet, and ironing
some clothes with my new iron. (While its still fun).
Okay... I ironed one shirt. That counts.
I felt sick tonight for about 2 hours. I
took a nap and when I got up I broke into a cold sweat and thought I was
going to throw up. I had a major attack of diarrhea. It passed quickly
enough, thankfully. I think it was the pork roast... too much fat in it.
MONDAY
- November 5, 2001
9:26p - The darn train was 2 minutes early
this morning.
9:26p - I went to West Pavilion and fixed
a problem on one of Dr. Siegel’s shared PC’s in the NucMed
Reading room today. It was a small coup for me. Then I went to Mallinckrodt
Tower and fixed “clarified” a problem for Dr. Teefey. She
was wrong. I told her so. She did not believe me and I proved it. She
apologized and (hopefully) I gained some respect from her today. (or not...
who knows....). But... I had to work through lunch anyway.
9:30p - Skip went to his Wash. U. orientation
today. He stopped by my office afterward and he looked really tired...
kept yawning. He came home this morning before I got out of bed. I don’t
think he has slept much. I came home tonight and he said he hadn’t
slept. He was “in bed” (on the sofa) but the TV was on and
he was awake. I hope he will get adjust to this new schedule as soon as
possible. I don’t need something else to worry about.
9:32p - I tried to set up a doctor’s
appointment today (at long last). I thought I might go in and have my
(right) shoulder checked. It has been hurting me a lot the last couple
of days. I don’t know what’s wrong with it.
9:34 - I called Dr. Avery’s office...
that’s the Cigna doctor I chose an tried to set up an appointment.
They ask me if Dr. Avery’s name was on my Cigna card, but I could
not find it. I found a Dr. Gina Michelle and they said I would have that
change before I set up an appointment. I haven’t seen a damned doctor
in nearly 3 years... no wonder.... this crap sucks.
9:37p - So... I call the number on the card
and get an electronic menuing system. Eventually I manage to get a human
on the other end and after four transfers and endless segments of “Muzak”
I finally get someone who knows something. She knows that I have the wrong
number and need my Insurance Provider!!! What?! Didn’t I call them?
Nope... I called my PCP. This is not a drug, this is my “Primary
Care Physician.” So... I looked on my card and found yet another
number to call ... this one had to be right (there weren’t any more!).
I bounced around through various voice menus and finally reached a recording
that politely advised me to call back during regular working hours! I
glanced at the clock... it was past 5:00p already! I had started my attempts
before 5:00 ... this crap really sucks!
9:41p - So... I still don’t have a
doctor. I cannot seem to get through all these stupid barriers! It was
so much easier when I worked for the City of Orlando. This place is so
f--king disorganized! But... I’m sorry... I shouldn’t complain.
This is considered good benefits around here. Of course, I haven’t
actually seen the benefits yet... after 15 months... Makes me wonder if
maybe I should have stayed on with Anheuser-Busch!
9:45p - Skip is filling out all his paperwork
for insurance tonight.
9:47p - I made some rice and am warming
up some left over pork roast stuff from yesterday. Hope it doesn’t
make me sick again!
9:48p - Talked with Ken on line today. Hard
to believe that Scotty is 16 years old now!
9:50p - I talked to a guy on the elevator
tonight when I was taking Kira out for a walk. I mentioned the night we
got attacked by the big Akita dog (I have since verified it IS an Akita).
He said, “Oh? So you’re the one!?” He had heard about
the incident. He was grateful to me for NOT reporting it. I told him that
I had reported the incident, but retracted the report. I don’t know
if that was the right thing to do or not. If someone ELSE gets attacked
and or harmed, I will feel that I am responsible. I just don’t know.
Either way could be view as good or bad, depending on one’s perspective.
TUESDAY
- November 6, 2001
Today was a hectic day at work. I also volunteered
to work on the Sunday following Thanksgiving (the 25th). Skip was trying
to sleep still when I got home, so I kept the lights down and stuff to
try keep it quiet for him.
WEDNESDAY
- November 7, 2001
7:43a - Kira got me up early this morning.
She really needed to go out. I am glad I cooperated with her. I got her
downstairs into the garage and she decided she couldn’t hold it
any longer. She squatted right in the middle of the road (in the garage)
and left a monstrous surprise. And of course, the security vehicle was
just coming up that particular isle. Very embarrassing, as I had to squat
down in the middle of the road in front of traffic and clean up after
her. Sorry if you are grossed out by the topic, but that just part of
the life of a pet owner...
Another hectic, but basically uneventful
day. I made some “Mexican Meat loaf” for supper. My own creation.
It was a bit dry but good. Salsa helped.
THURSDAY
- November 8, 2001
7:45a - It’s bright and sunny outside.
Looks like a beautiful day.
Skip got his WU-ID badge this morning.
It got colder by the end of the day. Another
standard boring day.
I had to work overtime another half hour
tonight. This has been a BIZZY week! worse than last week which (with
the opening of The CAM) we expected to be busy.
I took some of the left over “Mexican
Meat loaf” from last night and made a batter with bell pepper &
onion which I poured over chunks of the meat loaf. It browned and then
I poured chili over the top of it and grated cheese. It cam out pretty
good!
FRIDAY
- November 9, 2001
8:34a - I am running behind schedule this
morning!
11:38p - Okay... the recipe continues! I
took last nights creation and chopped it into little squares. I then made
a batter and dipped the squares in batter and fried them! It was pretty
good! This was several generations of preparation.
11:39 - This morning I edited the entry
in my diary for Debie [I won’t mention her last name] on August
24th, 2000. A friend of hers (I think his name is Brian) found her name
in my diary, mentioned it to her. It bothered her so I removed it, but
I was thrilled that someone actually searched and located something in
my journals!
11:48p - Terry’s dad is visiting this
weekend. Stanford. Never met him yet. Fy’ iith’ uuthtr’
iib’ one, y’ond’ aantw’ uut’ iitm’
imhe.
11:50p - Skip rented “The Patriot”
and just started it. I haven’t seen it. I’m really not interested
in seeing it now. I’m sure its good.
Y’aatg’ eye aatbult’ aavy’
iklaerke uutaitn’ eyenge. Ey’ igb’ aatbult’ aavy’

SATURDAY
- November 10, 2001
Happy Birthday to Scott Robbins (32) up in Idaho!
8:45 - Just took Kira for her walk. I need
to go to the market to day. But first I think I need some soup or something.
I feel yucky. I think my stomach is actually “writhing!”
I went to the market today and to Walgreen’s.
I got so much stuff at the market it was difficult to get it all home;
even on my “granny cart.” I got a real good buy on mushrooms....
4 pounds for $2!
SUNDAY
- November 11, 2001
I didn’t do much today. I mostly just
spent the day putting up the groceries from yesterday. I got some tripe
on Saturday and am planning on making some menudo soon. I have the tripe
all cut up and in a Mexican marinade. Skip picked up a can of hominy for
me tonight.

Happy
30th Birthday to
Adam
Sonstegard |

I made some pizza like stuff for
supper. Went to bed by 10:30p. |
8:12a - Kira woke
me up at 4am this morning, but I couldn’t get up to take her
out. She was able to wait till morning but she didn’t make
it all the way out of the garage! Poor thing... she did the best
she could. I shouldn’t have fed her those bites of hamburger
meat last night.
I finished reading
the 1st 3 novels of “The Stainless Steel Rat” at lunch
today. They were entertaining. I will have to see about getting
more of the series.
I
finally got my doctor’s name changed on my CIGNA card
and set up and appointment for my first visit. That will be
on December 4th.

TUESDAY
- November 13, 2001
8:21a - I am in a hurry
this morning. Calisa called me and we talked for 24 minutes. I am behind
schedule, real bad!
| OLD DIARY-
2000: Terry Wells and Theresa came over for about 5 minutes tonight.
On the way home Terry was mugged at knife point. He’s ok. [2005
Note - this was probaby a lie. Terry turned out to be a be fake] |
This was a busy day for
me. I loaded 7 software packages on five different machines. I worked
through lunch and didn’t get anything to eat until about 3:30p.
I was getting spacey I was so hungry.
I pick up a new book and started it today.
“The Homecoming” by Orson Scott Card. I also placed books
4 & 5 of “The Stainless Steel Rat” series on order.
WEDNESDAY
- November 14, 2001
7:39a - It looks like a cool sunshiny day
outside. Time to take Kira out into it ...
It was a very nice day out there today.
I wished I were out in it.
The apartments are having
the windows cleaned between Nov 8th and Nov 16th. I don’t think
they have cleaned mine yet, and they only have one more day. They were
supposed to cut off the hot water between 10am and 5pm to clean the boilers
this morning. I guess they did that. Skip could not get ANY hot water
for a both before going to work tonight, but I was able to get some a
little later. I hope I have hot water for my shower in the morning!
THURSDAY
- November 15, 2001
8:09a - We are half way through the month...
the money is holding out. I am a little lower than I wanted to be, but
Skip should be getting paid this Friday (his first check). That should
give me the boost I need to get to the end of the month (i.e., payday)
without touching my savings.
I reloaded Lotus Notes on my machine at
work today and then loaded 3 more instances on machines in Per Sé
across the hall. I think I’ve got it down pat now! Finally. After
over a year. I feel stupid, but it IS a very complicated program to install.
They called me from Barnes & Nobles
today to let me know that “The Stainless Steel Rat” series
is no longer in print. They recommend a used book store. Too bad.
FRIDAY
- November 16, 2001
Harry Potter opens...
7:32a - “Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s
Stone” opens at theaters today. I look forward to seeing it. Skip
and I are going to see it together. I want to go to Chase Park Plaza to
watch it... it is much nicer than most theaters.
7:34a - I had some weird dreams last night.
One segment I remember took place in Eltopia Washington. My sister, Darlene,
was outside (we lived in a trailer home). She was calling frantically
to my Mom & Dad (also outside) that something bad had just happened...
we all had to lay down or something. I stuck my head out the door and
looked toward town. It should have been Pasco, WA, that I was looking
toward, and it should not have been visible 30 miles away. Instead, I
could see downtown Orlando, FL, (as it looked in the 80’s ... the
new City Hall was not built). Everything was on fire! Then I could see
the shock wave of a massive explosion spreading toward us! It was like
a wall of black smoke and everything was being laid to waste before it.
It would reach us in seconds. I started looking for a good spot to lay
down on the floor. I was very scared and knew I would probably die. I
was also very upset because I didn’t have any pants on! I didn’t
want my dead body found half naked. It was very upsetting. I lay down
on the floor and braced myself... then of course I woke up!
7:42a - Skip gets his first paycheck today!
He plans on getting a bank account today too. Good idea.
We were going to go see “Harry Potter”
tonight, but by the time Skip woke up and we got ready it was too late.
We’ll go another time.
SATURDAY
- November 17, 2001
We made it to Chase Park Plaza today and
watch “Harry Potter.” It was excellent! Skip and I both thought
it followed the book very closely. I am glad to got to watch it together.
After watching the movie we went by Schnuck’s and I picked up some
materials, including more tripe & hominy so I can make decent menudo.
I put the menudo on tonight and that was
about the highlite of my Saturday night!
SUNDAY
- November 18, 2001
I had some of the menudo this morning...
It’s really good! I made this with pig’s feet in it (more
traditional). Most recipes call for a calf’s foot (or 2 pigs feet).
I took some of the menudo down to see if
Octavia on the front desk wanted some. She mentioned that she liked it.
But Louise was on duty. I ended up bringing some of it down for “Otis”
and some broth only for Louise (she does not like tripe... or at least
not the “idea” of eating tripe).
While Skip was sleeping today, I went down
to Union Station and watched another movie, “Monsters, Inc.”
It was cute. It was another of those movies that both small children and
adults can enjoy on different levels.
Aalyose, y’aasw’ aadm’

aim’ aatbult’ aavy’ umre. Iih’ utk’ aavy’

After the movie I went over
to Hooters and had some wings and beer. Erth’ erw’ umse shunkaha
aisg’ erthe, itsaengy’ eksn’ uut’ iime. <aisne!>
On the way home, downtown, I found a little
Cardinal hen. She could not fly. She has obviously suffered some disease
or injury. I brought her home with me so she would not have to die on
the street, kicked by homeless people or run over by traffic.
I went down to Clem’s after getting
home where I met Jack. We had a few drinks and he gave me a ride home.
We got some white Castle’s on the way home. This was only the second
time I ever had any of them. There were much better this time. I got the
kind with bacon in them. Very tasty (...of course, I was a bit drunk at
the time.... anything probably would have tasted good). then we went over
to Jack’s place where he could get a CD for me and then he brought
me home. Jack brought a bowl along with him so I could give him some of
the menudo, but (duh!) we left it hanging in a plastic bag on my apt door!
MONDAY
- November 19, 2001
8:34a - The bird was still alive this morning,
but its other eye is all swollen up now. I am surprised it made it through
the night.
9:52p - I had to work another half hour
over time tonight due to a line printer breaking down. It was printing
a big report that has to go out every Monday.
9:53p - To my surprise, the bird was still
alive when I got home. I couldn’t find her at first. She had flopped
down on the floor in front of the intake vent for the AC. I put her back
up on the boxes in front of the window and tried to give her some more
of the milk-honey-water-antibiotic concoction that I made yesterday. She
might have got a drop or two down.
9:54p - I went back later and definitely
got a few drops down her gullet.
9:55p - Soy cortando más
de la tripa por el menudo anoche. Llevé algún menudo a Lisa
10:36p - Well... I better get back in the
kitchen and start chopping the tripe.
11:17p - I got all the tripe chopped up
on in the freezer. I seasoned it REALLY great! I am ready to make menudo
for 3-4 weeks!
11:19p - Skip’s watching Spin City.
He likes Charlie Sheen in M.J. Fox’s place (which he found surprising).
11:30p - I was just thinking... I have not
heard any news about terrorists, anthrax, or anything like that in several
days. Maybe I am just managing to avoid the news, or maybe its just not
that interesting to people any more.
11:29p - Skip just left. Its chilly outside.
He was feeling yucky. I hope he’s not coming down with anything.
I think he should have gotten a flu shot, but he is kind of a sissy about
such things.
11:30p - He just came back in and left again.
Strange. Don’t know what he did.
11:31p - Mi estas trinkanta multa da biero
cxi nokte!
11:34p - Ich muß schlafen gehen. Ich
inebriated sehr. Ich bildete nicht mein Abendessen. Ich bin hungrig. Ich
muß sehen, wenn der Vogel noch lebendig ist. Wenn der Vogel lebt,
muß ich ihn einziehen. Mein Deutsch ist sehr falsch. Traurig!
11:39p - I don’t know what I am going
to do for supper. But I need to check my email. I have not checked it
(at home) all day.
I didn’t get to bed until 2:00am!
I was straightening up the apartment and it just took longer than intended.
Then I realized I hadn’t eaten, so I threw some food together. I
was 2:00a when I laid down in bed.
TUESDAY
- November 20, 2001
7:56a - I am so tired this morning. I haven’t
even checked to see if the little bird is alive this morning. A cold front
hit yesterday. Its cold out there... very chilly at any rate.
7:57a - I had some strange dreams last night.
As usual, they are full of holes this morning, but the tale end of one
dream had me opening a gift. I think it was from my parents, I am not
sure. There was a little lion cub in a package of clothes. I held my hand
out to it for it to smell and it acted like it was going to bite me. Then
there was a loud noise and I looked away from the cub to find myself in
bed.... for real. Skip just come home early again and the door slamming
had awakened me. I felt kind of cheated out of the “prize”
part of my dream; apparently I had been through a lot to get to the part
where I opened my gift. I can’t remember much, but I do recall one
scene where the bad guys (aliens?) were attacking me and my colleagues.
My ‘colleagues’ were people from my office and I think we
were all some kind of super spies. We were getting some kind of old ship
ready for operation. I don’t know what kind of ship is was; space
ship, water ship, air ship.... maybe a combination. I know it was sitting
in water, but ... well, dreams are very vague and confusing at times.
8:05a - I am going to be running late again
this morning... I must get Kira out for her walk now...
8:30a - Its still chilly outside, but very
sunny. It looks like a beautiful (if bracing) day.
7:48 - I was so industrious this morning.
I got my desk all organized. It was becoming a mess. I had planned on
going out and doing several floor calls, but things got too busy and I
never mad it <sad face>. However, I can say I got a lot accomplished.
7:49p - The bird died. She was alive late
this morning, according to an IM from Skip, but she had been called back
unto the Presence by the time I arrived home this evening. I disposed
of her shell, but will not forget her tenacity. I was going to call a
Wild Life sanctuary place of which I was informed today, but regretfully
it is too late. Lamento que el pájaro tuviera que morir. Es ist
sehr traurig. L'oiseau était très fort combattant.
8:08p - Some new words I learned today include
“ee-dien-dien” (my own spelling) which is Mandarin for “a
little bit.” Also “pong yo” which is friend, or friendly...
(I’m not sure). I also learned “Daru” which is “beer”
in Hindi.
8:10p - Smallville is on.... time to go
watch TV! :-o
9:17p - That was a cool episode. The old
woman in the nursing home could see the future. She had a glimpse of Clark’s
future and scared him. The Lex Luther came to her (for the 2nd time...
after conquering his fears) and she had a vision of HIS future. It was
so frightening that she died! I like this series. Very deep.
WEDNESDAY
- November 21, 2001
8:11a - I just got up. I am sick! I was
coughing last night, but I didn't’ think I was sick. I woke up with
a fever last night. A mild one, but I am still coughing. Damn. Just what
I needed for Thanksgiving.
Well ... I made it through
the day. Skip got his little bonus check from his former employer today.
That was an unexpected boost. He surprised me with a chunk of it. I am
really grateful!
THURSDAY
- November 22, 2001
DANKFESTO --- THANKSGIVING
6:57p - I felt so rotten when I got up this
morning. I was coughing so bad a gagged and threw up. Dry heaves anyway,
since I didn’t have anything in my system to lose.
Skip was already up and cooking the Thanksgiving
meal when I got up. It was about 9am before I got the strength up to take
Kira for her walk. I was shaking and felt so bad, I thought I was going
to have to ask Skip to take her for me. But I didn’t want to do
that, since he was up and being so industrious.
|
6:59p
- Jack and Adam just left about 15 minutes ago. The arrived around
3:30p with a massive tray of cheeses and fruit. We sat around and
listened to music, munched on snacks and had a few cocktails (I
just had some beer). Then we dug into the meal. We had turkey breast,
cornbread stuffing, carrots, shoe peg corn, dinner rolls, mashed
potatoes, giblet gravy, deviled eggs, cranberry sauce and I am probably
forgetting something. I think it went over quite well. SOooo much
better than LAST year’s less-than-pleasurable Thanksgiving.
7:52p - I cleaned
up a little in the kitchen (what a mess!). At least I got the food
put away. I am surprised I was able to fit everything into the fridge. |
7:53p - Skip wisely
took my advice and is using my bed/pallet to get some rest on. He
has to go in to work at midnight tonight (yuck!). In fact, I have
to be in at 7:00a in the morning (more yuck!). But... at least I
don’t have to work till 6:00p as usual. I will get off around
3ish. I hope I am feeling better tomorrow.
7:59p - I just realized...
I *STILL* did not give Adam his birthday card! Aaaaghh!
8:51p - The kitchen
is clean! YAY!!!! The worst part of T-Day is over! Skip will be
surprised I bet. He went to sleep and the kitchen was a disaster,
I still had guests over, and we were all drinking. I doubt he will
expect to be getting up to a clean kitchen ... AND I have coffee
set to brew if he needs/wants it. He was so good today. Getting
up and doing such a great job on Thanksgiving dinner. And I was
not a lot of help because I was feeling so sick. I feel I’ve
done my part now. Well... I did make the deviled eggs and the giblet
gravy. But to be fair about it, he bought the eggs and the giblets.
He boiled and peeled the eggs. He sliced up the giblets and cooked
them... I just took over half way through, so.... He really did
almost everything.

8:55p - I think I was supposed
to wake Skip up at 9pm. I am not sure. I think I will give him until
9:30p. He needs all the sleep he can get.
8:57p - I better go
check the toilet. I dumped some old rice in the toilet earlier and
clogged it up! Ooops! It overflow all over the bathroom. I think
I finally got it unclogged, but the floor is all wet. At least its
was just rice and water (and some gross looking chunks of brussel
sprouts!).

FRIDAY
- November 23, 2001
5:59a - I am up. Yuck. I
feel crappy. I am lucky to be up actually. I set my alarm for 5:30a, but
I forgot to turned the alarm on! I discovered this at 5:31a!! So... here
I am. I heated up left over coffee from last night. My lungs are killing
me.... all congested. When I cough it hurts. Hopefully I will feed better
later.
This was a long day. I was able to leave
a little after 2pm when Lisa S. arrived, fortunately.
I received my ‘ElectroMassage’
unit today. Yay! New toys! I tried it out... it is pretty weird. Makes
your muscles contract.

Happy
Birthday to
Chuck
Welsh
in
Tampa, Florida |
I felt a little better today.
I got my hair cut finally at 11am then Skip and I were going to go down
to Soulard Market. Skip decided to go off in search of some game at Circuit
City instead, so I went to the market alone. It was pretty dead there;
due to the holiday(s) I guess. On the way home, when I got off the bus,
I spilled my cart and everything fell into the street between the bus
and the curb (in some water, of course). I was so mad.
I was feeling better, so I went out to Clem’s
and has a few drinks. Chatted with a guy named “Mike” from
Kentucky for a while. He had driven here just to do some Christmas shopping.
I got all the meat I bought at the market
put away, and Skip put away the meat I bought for him. The freezer is
STUFFED! And I still have all the vegetables to prepared and freeze!

Happy
Birthday to
my niece
Pamela
Devon Norris (1988)
in
Modesto, California |
I feel pretty bad again today. I should
not have gone out last night. I do not have a hangover, I just am coughing
real bad again.
I had to go to work for nine hours today.
The overtime will be very welcome, but it means I must NOT take any time
off this week; so I hope I don’t get any sicker!
Marty brought his computer in to the office
today. I worked on it for a long time with him, but there were some problems
I could not surmount. One problem is his CD ROM drive. It just refuses
to open. I thought I had it working for a while there, then it quit working
again. I did manage to reload Windows. I hope that did some good...
I got a lot of the veggies cut up and put
away tonight. I still have some leeks and turnips left to prepare.
MONDAY
- November 26, 2001
7:52a - My throat hurts this morning and
I am expecting to have another coughing fit any moment. I am tired, but
otherwise don’t feel too bad.
7:53a - The morning is overcast and cool
out. I have the window open, so I don’t think it is too cold. Skip
is still at work; I think his job is going well. He still is not thrilled
with the night shift, but its still a decent job.
7:55a - I better get a move on! Time to
walk K-dog!
There was a Rams game tonight. Traffic was
such a mess (and I say that as a pedestrian!). I was trying to cross the
street at the corner downstairs and thought I was going to get ran over.
I actually had to put my hand on the hood of a big Limo as it inched forward
on me!
I got a letter from Fry-Wagner...
or rather from a collection agency! They have had the audacity to put
a collection agency on me! They contracted with me to move my stuff for
$270, I paid them $300 already and they want another $134! And what do
I get for my money? A missing swivel chair, late arrival, and 3 guys (when
I contracted for 2) to move ONE bedroom in FIVE hours! Apparently, I also
get to pay for their breaks and the rubber band fight in the stairwell!
I am going to write them (and the better business bureau) a letter with
lots of details telling them just how I feel.
TUESDAY
- November 27, 2001
7:32a - It was nice outside
last night. Long sleeve weather, but nice. This morning is much chillier
I think. I had the window open last night and it got cool. There is supposed
to be a winter storm headed our way I hear. It is possible we will have
snow on the ground by this weekend. I am already looking forward to Spring
and Winter is not yet upon us! This was a VERY busy day at work!

Happy
Birthday to
my sister,
Darelen
Norris (1960)
in
Modesto, California |
8:12a - I am running late
already this morning (I just got up). It looks cold out there THIS morning!
I had to turn the heat on last night. I noticed the streets look wet.
How dreary... I will wear my heavy coat today.
It was another hectic day
at work, but I am glad I work indoors! It was cold and wet out today,
but not quite cold enough to snow. I took the whole left over turkey and
boiled it up into a stew for supper tonight. It came out quite delicious!
Skip used honey and pineapple on the turkey and that went in the stew
too. I was afraid it was going to be grossly sweet, but I was great. And
lots of it. I had 2 bit bowls of it for supper and Skip had a bowl. He
also took a bowl with him to work. There is still plenty left and I am
going to take some with me to work for breakfast. Plus I will take some
in for Lisa and Gary (my fellow help desk workers).
THURSDAY
- November 29, 2001
7:45a - I looks hazy, cold
and wet out there this morning. I dread taking Kira out in it. Yuck. but...
I better get going. First I have to warm up the stew from last night.
9:46p - I am making an interesting
concoction of hamburger meat, leeks, turnips, bell pepper, a couple of
rings of jalapeño, spices and a can of tomato soup for supper.
We will see how it goes. Smells good!
9:47p - I just got through
setting up my diary page for December. I am a bit ahead of schedule for
a change!
FRIDAY
- November 30, 2001
7:38a - Friday at last! This has been a
long week! It’s payday for me & Skip both today. His first FULL
payday on his new job.
7:39a - I had some real strange dreams last
night. There was this bar that I kept going to all through out my dreams.
I would stop in at this same bar. It must have be in about 3 or 4 different
dream sequences, but it was no place I remember ever having been to. Strange.
It seems like someone was trying to contact me in the last such dream...
I think it was Doug. I kept looking at a caller ID or a cell phone display
and was trying to figure out who had called. I seemed to know it was Doug,
but I don’t know why.
7:43a - It looks cold and wet outside again,
but still no snow. I thought we might have snow by Saturday, but not yet.
I don’ think we’re going to see many nice days (if any) for
another 4 months now <sigh> ... but Spring is so beautiful here!
It’s worth the wait.
Compré una botella
de ron. Conseguí muy borracho esta noche. Fui a una taberna, pero
no permanecía de largo. Vine a casa temprano. No recuerdo cuando
conseguí casero. Como I dicho, era muy borracho!
