We moved into the new house in Cahokia on August 26, 2003.

Today it is Septembe 14, 2003, and the place is still pretty much a disaster. We are slowly getting acclimated, but it is a slow process with both of us working opposite shifts. By the time we travel to/from work on the bus and train, run by the store, fix some supper, take care of a few odd chores, its time to go to bed and start over!

Here are some pictures of the house as things look today on September 14, 2003. I will take more pictures in the future to show what progress we make in making the place more like a real home.

Standing in the living room, this picture looks into the kitchen where many of the boxes are still waiting to be emptied. The kitchen has a nice tile foor and the hanging lamp will pull down to table height (though I don't have a table yet!)

From the kitchen, looking back into the living room. As you can see, the clutter extends into this area as well.

Here is a scene from the kitchen. So far, the only things "hanging" from any wall are all located right here. The telephone found a neat place to hand on the wall right by the back door; there was a convenient nail already in place on which I hung the clock; and Diana Murayama's "Cream of Wheat" picture (a gift). This picture was badly obscured by the camera flash, so I took another picture of it and have overlaid that image within the frame. You may not be able to tell, but this is a collage of two different photographs. The intent was to clarify as much as possible this piece of art which I really like.

The patio is fairly large, covered, and quite nice. Yesterday we grill some ribs, had a few beers and it was a very pleasant day. Even though I have no kitchen table, I have one on the patio though! (It is not clean enough to bring indoors and too small for the kitchen anyway).

Here is Kira... I think she found a bug. Notice the morning glories climbing the two trellises. They look very nice. Some small climbing roses might look good there.

Kira continues to terrorize a bug she has found in the back yard. This is a very big back yard and (mostly) fenced in. Kira can get out, but she is very obedient and such a good girl. I just tell her to stay in the yard and have pointed out to her where her boundary lines are. She understands and cooperates.

My first satellite dish! Last Thursday, September 11th, 2003, I had my first satellite dish installed! I had to put this picture in and show off my newest toy!
