Contract position with Kelly IT Services. Provided technical support of PC LAN (Windows 2003 Server), Desktop systems, SmartBoard software installation. Created system images and downloaded to new systems for installation. Assisted in Profession Curriculum demonstrations. Performed many other related services as required throughout the various sites of the Normandy School District. (A National Background Check by Identix was required and completed for this position). |

In this position my responsibilities entailed providing support for the third largest medical school and hospital complexes in the United States. I provided radiology support for many sites, including but not limited to Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Washington University School of Medicine, Barnes West County, Missouri Baptist Medical Center, St. Louis Children’s Hospital, and Clinical Sciences Research. Support included access to multiple platforms including DEC/VMS, IBM AS/400, NT and Novell networks, XP Pro Desktop systems (using VNC and Active Directory). I was responsible for the initial processing of new user accounts as well as hardware and software purchases. I redesigned the forms used in this process incorporating an automated “response” to each requestor to reduce errors and speed up the process. I also designed and instituted a series of checks and balances to keep my section organized with regard to many other functions. |

This was a high pressure position covering the functions of three experienced Legal Secretaries specializing in the areas of Worker's Compensation, Personal Injury and Social Security. Duties included using a PC for preparation of legal documents, and maintaining the attorney's calendar (both an electronic version and traditional hard copy). I was directly responsible to the City Attorney of the City of Deland, Florida (County Seat). Duties also included contacting opposing counsel, clients, various judges, doctor's offices as well as other agencies related to the case in question. Extensive file management was required. Temporary position. |

Transferred to Customer Support due to departmental restructuring. Performed field work much the same as described below in the 1987-1995 period.
Promoted to Computer System Support Analyst II. In this capacity, my primary functions have been to provide telephone support for City Employees; either providing on-line resolutions or assigning and monitoring calls for analysts/technicians. Responsible for multiple platforms, including but not limited to Windows (2.01 -- Windows98, NT), Unix based systems, Macintosh, IBM OS/400. Software support for all software (operating systems, databases, spreadsheets, word processing, emulation, internet, and all other). LAN environments include Novell, NT and TCP/IP. Also provided support for telephones, including Siemens Rom PhoneMail™ .
During this eight year period my function and job title changed several times. My duties fell into two primary areas; field support and in-house instruction. In this capacity I provided on-site hardware/software installation, support and one-on-one training for many areas of the City. My primary areas were the Office of the Mayor, City Commissioners' Office, Chief Administrator’s Office, Office of Legal Affairs, City Clerk's Office, Minority Business Enterprise, Downtown Development Board, Neighborhood Services Office, and all other General Administration offices. In addition, the Centroplex which included the Expo Centre, Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre, and the Orlando Arena (including non-city entities such as MarVista/Host Marriott). I also provided in-house instruction, teaching such classes as "Introduction to PC'," "WordPerfect 5.1," (beginner, intermediate and advance) and "Introduction to OfficeVision/400."
During this era, the word processing and personal computing sections were in different departments. My duties as Word Processing Support Analyst included all hardware/software installation and support for Wang word processors and PC's. I ran coaxial cable throughout various City building, including the police department. I served as System Administrator for a Wang VS-65. At this time I was the only Analyst and maintained an accurate inventory of all equipment, software and services. I also initiated the development of in-house classes which I conducted to improve employee efficiency throughout the City.
Acted as Administrative Assistant to the City Attorney. Responsible for managing the City's Legal Office. Included overseeing the workload and attendance of all regular employees, assigning special projects, and coordinating code book supplements. System Administrator of the Word Processing Center. Wrote and implemented simple programs to enhance office performance. Trained new staff members. Maintained expenditure control of the annual budget, including preparation of the annual budget. Performed the functions of Legal Secretary for the City Attorney; keeping calendars, scheduling meetings, typing correspondence & legal documents, filing, notarizing and working closely with him in coordinating ordinances, resolutions, and other legal documents for council, or other projects as assigned by the Mayor in a timely manner. Made travel arrangements for the attorney staff; monitored and paid membership dues and bar association fees; ordered office supplies/equipment; attended meetings as required; coordinating staff schedules; processed payroll; handled personnel matters. I handled routine phone calls and mail not specifically addressed; maintained petty cash funds; acted as records custodian; property control custodian; and was responsible for maintaining the law library |

Operation of IBM OS/6-452 Information & Word Processing system; design of electronic filing systems; forms design; correspondence process; Dictaphone use; stenography and recording/preparation of minutes; daily bank deposits and related bookkeeping.
Typing; bookkeeping; making bank deposits; dealing with public (collecting payments, issuing receipts, etc); preparing reports. During this period, I self taught myself on the new Information Processing System which came to good use for the Department when the trained operator resigned shortly before the systems actual implementation. Changed position laterally when office was incorporated into the County. |

Nuclear Power School, NTC, Orlando, FL. My duties as a Yeoman including typing, filing and general office work. I also handled classified material and a regular basis and conducted month student “in-takes” conducted in a classroom setting, and quarterly in-takes conducted in an auditorium. I my duties included speaking in front of large crowds in those cases. During my tour of duty at this station, I began working in the Personnel Department. I later advanced to the Administrative office. I performed the duties of Captain's Mast Yeoman. I was later transferred to work in "the vault" handling CONFIDENTIAL materials on a daily basis. Honorably discharged with the rank of Petty Officer 3rd Class (E-3). Continued for 2 years in Active Reserves, and for one year in Inactive Reserves. |
